48 Mini Cupcakes

Click to see the big image. No drooling on the keyboard!

Dark chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and raspberry hearts. They were melt in the mouth yummy.

The Orcas are Back!

Two days in a row now a pod of orcas has cruised by -- first heading south then yesterday heading back north. We think they didn't find enough salmon to eat down south so are heading for Hood Canal where they can feast on seals. They were traveling fast, breaking the surface with loud slaps. One in particular had a very tall fin that reflected bright red late afternoon sunlight. My little camera failed to capture any interesting images so I copied this one from Google images.

Unusual Sunday in the Country

Local village science teacher recreates early man's process of making iron from iron oxide and sand using heaps of his own home-made charcoal and advice and support from family, friends and colleagues. For more photos of the spectacle, go to:

I was tempted to toss a hot dog into the boiling inferno at the end but the thought of hot fat erupting onto bystanders squelched the impulse. Viviann did entertain the crowd with her Jiffy Pop.

Valentine's Day Indulgence

Whew! Two hours go fast when you're searching for photos and tampering with them on Picnik. Thanks for getting me hooked, Zan! Here are the two cards I made. One is personal, for the crazy man in my life, the other is for everyone else.

Hmm, that didn't work too well. The Youtube link didn't print as a link and when you click on the photos, they show up way too big. Back to the drawing board, but not right now. I have mini-cupcakes with red jelly hearts to make for the gallery opening this afternoon.

Picnik Puttering

I was playing around with the doodle tool on picnik.com to get an idea of how to rework this photo as a painting. It was actually quite helpful. I think tomorrow morning will be an excellent time to get started on the 24 x 24 canvas.
